Major Tom Revived

I'm usually not much for covers of my favorite songs, but when I heard this one on a car commercial a few weeks ago, I was willing to give it props just for reminding me of one of my favorite 80's One Hit Wonders (the original was done by Peter Schilling).

After downloading both versions from iTunes, I have to admit that I like the cover by the Shiny Toy Guns better. They've given it a much stronger Electronic Pop feel without really altering the tune, and it still has one of the most haunting choruses I've ever heard. And the look! It's like being back at the Flock of Seagulls concert when I was 13!

Not sure what the rationale for using it to sell a car was, but still a cool tune.
